About

A.E. Prevost writes character-driven science fiction and fantasy, which often tends to reflect aspects of language and gender – two topics they find fascinating. Their works explore themes of friendship and isolation, mental health and ambition, and the interactions between society, identity, and magic. Influences include Ellen Kushner, Ursula K. LeGuin, Scott Lynch, Ann Leckie, and Lev Grossman.

A.E.’s short fiction, nonfiction, comics, and poetry have appeared in a variety of publications. Their illustrated essay on Serial Experiments Lain, titled The Signal of Noise and produced in collaboration with the comics collective MUSEbasement, was featured in the journal Mechademia 3.  They are a core writer for The Ling Space, an educational video series on linguistics which they also direct.
