A new blog post! On funky quirks of the English language you may well do on a daily basis, but may not know have names, structure and really cool explanations!

Informative and fun! A very good combination, that.

In most languages I’ve learned, by the way, I’ve ended up with mondegreens in listening to music. I don’t know where the words should be broken up yet, and the music often makes the regular clues kind of obscure, and then suddenly, you have stuff that doesn’t mean anything, if you’re lucky. The ones you actually hear about are the ones where your new meaning is hilariously wrong. ^^;

I am the absolute worst at these, like, I am notorious among my friends for mondegreening the butts out of lyrics. Some highlights:

– “I came in like a raaaiiinbooooww” – Miley Cyrus
– “let’s play… Lobster and Servant” – Depeche Mode
– “all the women, independent, throw your hands up Batman” – Destiny’s Child
