When a kid makes a mistake in their language, does it help them fix it to correct the error? How do they deal with linguistic feedback? In this week’s episode, we talk about negative evidence and child language acquisition: what it is, when we provide it, and how kids listen to it.

Looking forward to hearing what people have to say about this one! We love language acquisition stuff. ^_^

Reblog for the day crew! ^_^

New episode! I love acquisition episodes like this one, they are so fun.

Are you planning on drawing more of Locke and Jean? I have been in love with these characters since first publication, though i can’t draw for shit. Your artwork is fabulous.

YOU BET YOUR SWEET PATOOTIE I’LL DRAW MORE LOCKE AND JEAN! Frankly, it’s kind of weird I don’t draw them more because they occupy, like, 78% of my waking thoughts. (and thank you!!)

Let’s hear it for the boys.

Oooo yes this is so close to my headcanon. That Jean!!

Today I had the supreme honor of giving a presentation to a group of ladies from Global Girl Media, which is just about the best program I’ve heard of in a long time. It’s a worldwide initiative that provides training and equipment for high school girls in order to ensure we’re giving the tools and support necessary to increase diversity representation in the media.

During the Women on YouTube workshop we talked a lot about the importance of supporting one another as content creators, but it’s also so essential to make sure we are providing materials and platforms for people when they are first getting started.

Those girls are seriously the coolest, most enthusiastic and inspiring group I’ve met in a long time, and I can’t wait to see what they do over the next year! If GGM is in your area I highly encourage you see how you can help out. I’d love to help GGM get connected to YouTube women activists and educators around the world, and help empower a new generation of digital storytellers.

A very positive international initiative encouraging young women from underrepresented communities to make their voices heard on issues with global impact. I had never heard of Global Girl Media before, but it sounds like it’s doing a lot of good. Go check it out.

Why do we sometimes hear things that aren’t there? When does the way we process language leave cracks for illusions to appear? In this week’s episode, we talk about phonological illusions: what varieties there are, the processing strategies that lead to them, and how sometimes, we even try interpreting sounds as language when they aren’t linguistic at all.

We’ve been wanting to do this one for a while! And not just because of the ferrets. We’re looking forward to hearing what people have to say!

Reblog for the day crew! ^_^

Today we learn how our ears trick our brains, and why the beach is the best place for ferrets!

Okay maybe not that last one.

Cute baby was stranded and returned to the water :3
